name evokes the thermal water spring to us that there is next
to the hermitage of Virgin of the Remedies or the Valley and that
supplied to the old convent of nuns bernardas of Santa Maria.
Was Miss Urraca de Avellaneda, daughter of the counts of Miranda
and Dukes of Peñaranda, who apparently founded the old
convent of Bernardas in 1175, of which today only there are left
some linen cloths without ceiling. At the end of the century XVIII
was sacked by Juan García de Villamayor, Mr. of Ucero,
and in 1550 was devoured by fire. |
